Dr Golly stresses three ways to keep things light:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be patient:<\/strong> These are new skills, and toddlers may need verbal and physical guidance at first.<br \/>\n<strong>Track small wins:<\/strong> Let them mark off each task with stickers or ticks.<br \/>\n<strong>Use positive reinforcement:<\/strong> Praise, rewards, or a star chart can help. Maybe a little prize for one night completed, and a bigger reward for five nights in a row!<\/p>\n<h2>4. Dr Golly\u2019s ideal bedtime routine consists of eight steps.<\/h2>\n<p>Every family\u2019s steps will be different\u2014some may include prayer, eczema cream, or even small household chores for older toddlers. That being said, it\u2019s not a disaster if your toddler goes to the toilet before brushing their teeth. Aim for a natural order that suits your household.<\/p>\n<h2>6. Avoid screens well before bedtime.<\/h2>\n<p>Dr Golly doesn\u2019t recommend any <a href=\"https:\/\/tinybeans.com\/movies-for-toddlers\/\">screen time<\/a> in the two hours before bed. The goal is to keep things calm and help your toddler wind down.<\/p>\n<h2>7.
