Trying to wrangle a toddler for a <a href=\"https:\/\/tinybeans.com\/best-family-photo-ideas-toddlers\/\">family photo shoot<\/a> is a special kind of challenge for any mom or dad who just wants a few nice snaps to hang on the wall and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tinybeans.onelink.me\/6seD\/xeq7y7w5\">share with family and friends on Tinybeans<\/a>. Read on for tips to help you get a set of family photos you\u2019ll truly love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-find-a-local-photographer-who-does-minis\">Find a local photographer who does minis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Minis are a great, less expensive way to get family photos. Plus, the shorter the period that your toddler has to focus, the better. And don\u2019t worry that your photographer won\u2019t have enough time to get the shot because they\u2019re professionals and used to this, says <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jalynannephotography.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">family photographer Jalyn Clemens<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-don-t-force-your-toddler-to-look-at-the-camera\">Don\u2019t force your toddler to look at the camera<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Posed shots are out, and fun, natural photos are in. If your toddler isn\u2019t looking at the camera, that\u2019s okay. \u201cIf one person isn\u2019t looking at the camera it\u2019s best that all of you are not,\u201d says Clemens. \u201cJust keep talking and smiling at your toddler or partner because smiling at the people you love is way cuter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-never-stop-moving\">Never stop moving<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Clemens says if you never stop moving, it gives your photos a more natural look. Plus, <a href=\"https:\/\/tinybeans.com\/games-and-activities-to-get-kids-moving\/\">toddlers never stop moving<\/a> anyway, so this one should be easy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-let-go-of-expectations\">Let go of expectations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLet go of any and all expectations of how your session should go,\u201d Clemens says. \u201cA good photographer will adapt to the session and to your family\u2019s personality and can just go with the flow.\u201d Besides, your toddler might lead you to some <a href=\"https:\/\/tinybeans.com\/weird-toddler-behavior\/\">weird and wonderful<\/a> results. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-be-yourselves\">Be yourselves<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most photographers will say it\u2019s best to just be yourselves and let the photographer tell your story. If your kid loves to run and roll on the ground, great! Follow them and laugh along as they do it. Do you like playing on the ground with your toddler? Perfect! Get on the floor and make some photo magic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scope-out-your-location-early\">Scope out your location early<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re doing it outside your house, get to your location a little early,\u201d Clemens suggests. \u201cKids have a natural desire to explore\u2014or they could feel a little bit nervous at a new location\u2014so arriving early can give your kid a sense of security and confidence.\u201d This will also increase the likelihood of your tot staying close to you, as they already had a chance to explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-try-to-let-your-toddler-have-fun\">Try to let your toddler have fun<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If everyone is stressed and tense and getting hollered at for not posing right, the photos will definitely reflect that. Tracy Englund, with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisyou.net\/\">This Is You Photography<\/a>, says to let your toddler have fun while they\u2019re there. They\u2019ll lighten up, and you will, too, which makes for some sweet, relaxed, happy photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-give-them-fun-toddler-friendly-props\">Give them fun toddler-friendly props<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Englund says whether it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/tinybeans.com\/toddler-books\/\">a book<\/a>, bubbles, a toy, or even a mirror (they do love looking at themselves), giving your toddler a prop to play with and focus on will make your photos stand out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-have-someone-stand-behind-the-photographer\">Have someone stand behind the photographer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By positioning someone familiar behind the camera with a favorite toy or a particularly silly face, you have a better chance of your toddler looking in the right direction (and maybe even dropping that million-dollar smile).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bribery-is-always-an-option\">Bribery is always an option<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;re not above bribery for family photos with a toddler and Englund agrees.
